Hello! My name is Michael Fequiere (pronounced fay-key-air) and I am an Emmy-award winning filmmaker with over fifteen years of production experience. I’m from Brooklyn, NY and I have a passion for telling character driven stories.
I’ve worked full time at Amazon, CNN, Townsquare media and other media companies where I’ve led the full production life cycle for video content that has reached millions of views across Youtube, Instagram, Meta and TikTok. At these companies I also helped define and execute programming strategies and video led campaigns year-round. I worked very closely with stakeholders, directed high profile people, managed a team and used data analytics to inform and optimize the storytelling.
Some of the many hats I’ve worn include writing, producing, directing, shooting, and editing. I’ve also worked closely with production companies and media outlets such as Religion of Sports, Atlas Obscura, and PBS as a writer, director, producer, videographer and editor for hire.
Personally I’ve made some short narrative films and documentaries. Most notably was a short doc I made called Kojo. The film follows a charismatic twelve year-old jazz drumming prodigy. The doc screened at TIFF, AFI Docs, Blackstar, IDFA and many other prestigious film festivals around the world. Currently, I’m working on some very personal projects. A short narrative film called Block that follows two Black boys dealing with grief, and a feature documentary about my family called A Good Man. I am a recipient of the Gotham/HBO True Stories Fund (2019) and I participated in Black Public Media’s 360 Incubator Lab (2019).
